For the upcoming weekend of August, which will include the festivity of Ferragosto (15th Aug.), museums will observe the usual public holidays hours.
Among the several museums with entrance fee (and with the possibility of booking at phone nr. +39-055-294883) on August Saturday 15 and Sunday 16, the Uffizi Gallery and the Accademia Gallery will observe the usual opening hours (8:15 to 18:50), but notice: on Saturday they will be open until 11:00pm/23:00.
During the whole weekend the Bargello Museum will be open with extended hours in the afternoon (from 8.15 to 17), while only Saturday there is a special extra opening from 7.00PM to 11.00PM (entrance on payment and possibility of booking calling at +39-055.294883).
Saturday (15th) and Sunday (16th) the Medici Chapels will be open from 8. 15AM to 5.00PM.
The Museum of San Marco will be open only on Saturday (15th) from 8.15AM to 4.50PM.
The museums of Palazzo Pitti: the Palatine Gallery, the Gallery of Modern Art, as well as the Silver Museum, the Costume Gallery and the Porcelain Museum can be visited on both Saturday (15th) and Sunday (16th) from 8.15AM to 6.30PM; Boboli Gardens still will be open until 7.30PM.
Museum of Palazzo Davanzati: open from 8.15 am to 1.50PM for the whole weekend. Here you can visit during the ordinary hours only the ground floor – (the loggia, the courtyard and the exhibition “Il sole in casa. La vita quotidiana nella ceramica popolare italiana dal XVI al XXI secolo”) – and the first floor. Therefore the second and third floors will be closed.
Among the museums with free entrance:
The Medici Villa Petraia (until 7.30PM), the Villa Medici in Poggio a Caiano(where every hour, from 9 to 18, guided tours are held at the Still Life Museum) and the Villa Medici in Cerreto Guidi, open Saturday at 9.00AM to 6.00PM and Sunday from 10.00AM to 7.00PM.
The events by Estate Fiorentina:
Las Palmas: in Piazza Ghiberti, in front of the market of Sant’Ambrogio, the evenings of “Las Palmas”. The formula is the same: free shows, bar and restaurant.
Le Pavoniere: in the shadow of fresh and secular trees, a wonderful pool, a pizza restaurant and a trendy bar. There will be also a Ferragosto party (15th)! A meeting point, where you can spend your evening with friends, eat outside, have a drink …
A short walk from the center, in an area with easy parking.
Summer in San Salvi will host one of the concerts of August but also the events of the festival of theater and that of the films chosen by the public.
